USA WTBA Workshop

The 2010 World Taiji Boxing Association Workshop is coming soon…really soon… By now, you’re wondering where and when, eh?

It’s in Darby, Montana — September 2010

The In-Depth Utah WTBA Workshop is back. It has a new location this year, hosting Mr. Eli Montaigue, Head Instructor of the World Taiji Boxing Association. We’re not in Salt Lake City: this year we’re in Western Montana.

If you, like me, crave and enjoy martial arts, realistic self-defense, and subtle, uplifting training, this is for you. If you’re a WTBA member or WTBA Instructor, then don’t miss this chance to get…

    • Cannon Fist Training
    • Old Yang Lu-chan Form
    • Pushing Hands
    • Fajing Stick Form

Sure, this Annual Workshop covers potent, in-depth Taijiquan, but it’s not only for WTBA members and instructors. It’s for any Taijiquan student, teacher, or practitioner (space is limited). Get more than 12 hours of in-depth Taijiquan training and instruction.

      The Cannon Fist Taijiquan Form

The Cannon Fist, or Pauchui, is a star of the 2010 USA WTBA Workshop. A solo form at first and a partner-fighting drill second, on the whole, the Cannon Fist Form is energetic and explosive.

With it, you get to learn fajing and fighting methods like proper distance and timing, defense and attack. It’s great fun. And it offers healing properties that you’d expect from Taiji: you get rejuvenation. This bold form teaches proper methods of attacking and defending. As you get your arms bumped and slapped, you get recharged and revitalized.

The Cannon Fist Form from the Yang Lu-Ch’an style of T’ai Chi Ch’uan…. After the A and B sides have been learned, we…put the both sides together with a partner, as they are complimentary, to learn how to use T’ai Chi as a fighting art. —from Taiji World

      Qigong

Hey: you’ll get Qigong practice too. You’ll learn and do Qigong to set up the body to get benefits from Taiji. Here you’ll get a chance to get it right and do it well because you can get top-notch feedback.

      Yang-Style Taijiquan Form Corrections

You’ll have a chance to refine postures from the Yang Lu-ch’an or Yang Chen Fu Forms. Eli will tackle some of the tougher ones. And, if you bring specific questions about other WTBA Forms (including Baguazhang Forms), you’ll get to tend to those too.

      Double Pushing Hands

Emphasis for this hardy drill is on getting it right. You’ll see how it works for self-defense, find the subtle rhythms of two-hands pushing, and get a chance to hone it for self-defense.

It seems to me, WTBA Pushing Hands methods have a unique amount of pressure between players. If you haven’t tried it this way: try it. If you’ve tried it, get over here and get it right.

This method conditions the body, from the hands, through the body, to the soles of the feet, and it gives you reflexive self-defense and fajing power. It’s great: we’ll spend time on it. Please don’t postpone purchasing: space is limited to about 20 folks.

      • Old Yang Lu-chan Form
      • Pushing Hands
